STORYLINE:
Thousands of runners, most of them wearing Santa Claus costumes, took part in a 10-kilometre (6.2-mile) race outside of Paris on Sunday.
Organisers handed out classic red and white hats and overcoats before the participants took to Issy-Les-Moulineaux’s streets.
Runners Javier Fragossa and Alexandros Gkatzojiannis said the accessories attracted extra attention from those in the area. “Many people are asking us for gifts already”, they said.
But others chose to wear more creative outfits, like marketing manager Philippe Lalere who showed up as the Grinch.
“I had already bought a reindeer costume and thought it would be nice to have a slightly more original mask. The Grinch is also the spirit of Christmas,” he said.
