9. SOUNDBITE (English) Ifat Kalderon, cousin of hostage Ofer Kalderon:
"We’re here to remind Netanyahu that the fact that he abandoned our hostages, 100 hostages in Gaza after 431 days is the worst crime that he could have ever done. 13. SOUNDBITE (Hebrew) Reuven Ben, Netanyahu supporter:
"I came to support the prime minister. I think he is not being given a fair trial. They have been chasing him for eight years. This person contributed to the country and you, the left-wingers all the time want to take him down, through the army, through the Attorney’s office or any other way, and they don’t succeed. Bibi (Netanyahu) did nothing, didn’t steal anything. He is the most powerful man in the world today, not in the country, in the world. He is a top level leader. He defeated Hamas, defeated Daesh, defeated the Syrians and will beat the court too."

STORYLINE:
Dozens of people gathered outside of a court in Tel Aviv as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the stand on Tuesday in his long-running trial for alleged corruption.
Some were protesting against Netanyahu, including family members of hostages held in Gaza, and others were supporting him.
Netanyahu is charged with fraud, breach of trust and accepting bribes in three separate cases.
He is accused of accepting tens of thousands of dollarsβ worth of cigars and champagne and exchanging favors with wealthy associates. Netanyahu denies wrongdoing, saying the charges are a witch hunt.Β
Under Israeli law, indicted prime ministers are not required to step down.
But the charges against Netanyahu cleaved deep divisions in Israel, with protesters demanding he resign and former political allies refusing to serve in government with the Israeli leader, triggering a political crisis that led to five elections in less than four years beginning in 2019.
