2. SOUNDBITE (English) Billy Crystal, actor/comedian:
"It’s an enormous thrill in my life. And grateful that HBO created a movement and a place for funny people to help the world. And we did for a long time and raised a lot of money and a lot of goodwill and became great friends, particularly the three of us. But I have to say, the entire community of funny people came together and do what we do and help heal. And created the message, Comic Relief: It’s no joke. And that’s a that’s a real blessing for all of us."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Billy Crystal, actor/comedian:
"Well, he’s here. He’ll be with us and Whoopi and I always feel that loss is monumental, of course, but his legacy is the laughs that we shared together on and off the stage. This movement of ‘Comic Relief’ in ’86 when it started, we were friends, but not great friends, and we became brothers during our many years together. And not only this, but other of the things we eventually did together will be – Whoopi and I always definitely feel him whenever we talk about Comic Relief or when we’re around people associated with Comic relief. And so it’s – it’s a sadness, but we’re thrilled that Zelda (Williams) will be with us to, you know, accept the good feelings that everyone will have tonight."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Amber Ruffin, comedian:
"I just remember because back then at the beginning of Comic Relief, there weren’t a lot of
actors and famous people, entertainers who were connected to a cause. So when they came out and they did Comic Relief, it was they sent out a call for comedians to take up a cause. And it won’t make you corny and it won’t water anything down because they were the coolest of the cool. So that really stuck."
9. SOUNDBITE (English) Alex Edelman, actor/comedian:
"And all three of them were big for me. You know, Robin, obviously a big part of my show and
Whoopi and and Billy Idol, all big, huge influences on me and the last two very kind to me as a young person. A young comedian. So and he had the idea that comedy can effect social change in a way that’s actually substantial. Really, really cool. Really? Really. I mean, what could be the higher higher calling that?"

11. SOUNDBITE (English) Phoebe Robinson, comedian:
"Yeah, I think especially right now, everything is really heavy and dire. And so I think comedy is a good way to make people feel good and remember that we’re all connected. So when we’re doing stuff to help one person, we’re helping another. So I think it’s a perfect marriage. Great, great marriage."
