STORYLINE:
It’s pandemonium in Hong Kong, with numerous tiny model panda bears lining the iconic Victoria Harbour seafront.
They are part of the 2,500 panda sculptures on display across Hong Kong during the panda-themed exhibition called "Panda Go!".
Weekend crowds of locals and visitors crushed the thin strip of walkway where the little pandas were on display.
International tourists are among those drawn to the display.
Vipar Kakani, tourist from India says, "It’s a very different experience, you can feel that a lot of artistic work has been done with the people, and it’s very pretty, it’s very, very unique."
They are here as part of a panda propaganda blitz, as Hong Kong has just received two new pandas from mainland China, and also seen its previous pair finally give birth to babies.
The pandas are a longstanding symbol of China and an extension of its soft power around the world.
These small panda models on display in Hong Kong are made from recycled material and are due to move to different spots around the city.
There are now six real pandas in captivity in Ocean Park, a wildlife and amusement centre in Hong Kong.
The exhibition will be on display at various locations across Hong Kong throughout December 2024.
