"For the mpox one (test), just after the starting of the disease in Africa, we’ve been asked by the Ministry of Health whether we can develop this kind of test, just to anticipate any propagation here in Morocco, and also our main market as well is Africa as well, so we develop for Morocco and for Africa as well. This is why we’ve been able to respond to this pandemic, and to create and to develop a test which is specific to mpox, based on the method which is called qPCR, real time PCR."

14. SOUNDBITE (English) Abdeladim Moumen, CSO of Moldiag:
"At the moment, we start to have some orders from some African countries, such as the DRC – Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as Burundi and Uganda. And this is just a start, because we just started to have orders. We are expecting some other orders from Nigeria, for instance, Senegal, and other countries, because we are collaborating also with the pastoral institutions in Senegal, and in other countries like Ivory Coast as well. So this is just a start with something like 50,000 tests for all these countries, and I think that the demand will be increased in the future."
15. Various of lab, technicians art work, machines operating
16. SOUNDBITE (English) Abdeladim Moumen, CSO of Moldiag:
"We have some collaboration, mainly in the Middle East area, with Saudi Arabia and Emirates, and we are negotiating to put our kit there. We are also trying to get the FDA approved, because we are aiming also to go to the U.S. and other countries like China. We have a lot of competitors, of course, but the main competitors that we have are from either U.S.A, Europe, or China. I don’t think that there is a huge competition from within Africa."
17. Various of lab technician at work, quality control process
18. SOUNDBITE (English) Abdeladim Moumen, CSO of Moldiag:
"For mpox, they (WHO) recommend something like $5 and not more, and we are less than $5 a test. So this is something that we have in our DNA. The main thing of our presence in Africa is to provide things for Africa in a very competitive and very efficient, cost-efficient way."
