The leader of Syria’s largest insurgent group, Hayat Tahrir Sham (HTS), called on his fighters to return to their military bases starting Monday.
Ahmad al-Sharaa, who was formerly known as Abu Mohammed al-Golani, addressed his fighters when they were praying at Umayyad Mosque in downtown Damascus on Sunday.
He declared that when governmental institutions start conducting their services on Monday, the appearance of arms on the streets or the firing of weapons will not be tolerated.
