Rowe: "It was."

Rowe: "SAIC of the detail."
Fallon: "Special agent in charge of the detail. Were you the special agent in charge of the detail that day?"
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Ronald Rowe, Acting Secret Service Director:
"Actually, let me address this. Could you please, staff leave that? Oh, no. Leave that one up with the circle around me. Thank you. So actually, Congressman, what you’re not seeing is the SAIC of the detail of out of the pictures view. And that is the day where we remember the more than 3000 people that have died on 9/11. I actually responded to ground zero. I was there going through the ashes of the World Trade Center. I was there at Fresh Kills."
Fallon: "I’m not asking you that. What you call your friend the SAIC. Why are you in charge?"
Rowe: "To show respect for Secret Service member that died on 9/11 that you’re trying to be. Do not invoke 9/11 for political purposes."
Fallon: "I’m not. I’m invoking this war, sir."
Rowe: "You are sir. You are out of line."
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Pat Fallon, (R) Texas:
"I’m asking you serious questions for the American people. And they’re very simple. They’re not trick questions. Were you the special agent in charge that day?"
Rowe: "No I wasn’t? I was there representing United States Secret Service, sir. It did not affect protected ops."
Fallon: "You know why you were there. (Mr. Powell) because you wanted to be visible because you are auditioning for this job."
Rowe: "I was there to pay respect for a fallen member of this agency."
Fallon: "You endangered President Biden’s life, Vice President Harris’ life because you put those agents out of position. Did you have a radio with you, you have a weapon, No."

Rowe: "It did not affect protected ops."
Fallon: "You know why you were there. (Mr. Powell) because you wanted to be visible because you are auditioning for this job."
Rowe: "I was there to pay respect for a fallen member of this agency. You are out of line Congressman, you are out of line."

STORYLINE:
Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe has heated exchange with Congressman during hearing on Capitol Hill by the bipartisan House task force investigating the attempt on Trump’s life.
The hearing devolved into a heated yelling match between Rowe and Rep. Pat Fallon, a Texas Republican.
Fallon pulled out a photo of President Joe Biden, Trump and others at the Sept. 11 ceremony in New York.
As Fallon pushed Rowe about why he was at the event, Rowe pushed back, yelling at him not to politicize the 9/11 attacks. Fallon accused him of going to the event to raise his profile in hopes of getting the director’s job.
Trump has not yet named his pick to lead the agency.
This is the task force’s second public hearing and the first time that Rowe has addressed it in public.
It is scheduled to release a report on its findings and recommendations by Dec. 13.
