STORYLINE:
Residents of the northern Israeli town of Metula returned to check their homes on Wednesday one week after the ceasefire with Hezbollah was announced, finding many of them damaged by rocket fire.
Metula is the northernmost town in the country close to the border with Lebanon.
The area was heavily struck by Hezbollah following the Israeli ground invasion into Lebanon on October 1, a sharp escalation in a conflict which was already a year old at the time.
Hezbollah started launching projectiles towards Israel last year in support of Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that led the deadly attack against communities in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
The Israel bombardment against Hezbollah in Lebanon since late September killed more than 4,000 people in Lebanon, and displaced more than 1.4 million from their homes.
Israeli officials estimate that about 60,000 people have been also displaced in northern Israel.
