“He was the heart, the core, the backbone. He was an energetic leader, he was simply a leader. He was the one who decided how to do it, organizational issues. Everything was based on him. We all loved him very much. He was a very strong man. When everything started in 2014, he was one of the first to join the army. At first, he didn’t join the Right Sector, he wanted to join another branch of the Armed Forces, but he ended up in the Right Sector. He was a very good man, very strong, very tough. We loved him very much.”

“Pavlo, he is moving on. The 112th Brigade has no former vets. Never and nowhere. They move from one service to another. He has a new task, and he will fulfill it with honor. And this task consists of only one thing – to hold heaven for us. And I thank his parents, of course. But I also thank him for his earthly service. And I ask for the heavenly one.”

STORYLINE:
A large crowd turned out for the Kiev funeral, Saturday, of a Ukrainian officer who was killed earlier this month.

People lit yellow and blue flares for Pavlo Vedybida, known, aka “Obolonchyk”, who was described as a popular officer.

A soldier who served with him described him as "the heart, the core, the backbone."

"He was a very good man, very strong, very tough. We loved him very much.”

Vedybida, 34, served with the 112th Brigade and was a veteran of the Russian Ukraine war since 2014.

He was killed in a small arms battle near Chasiv Yar on November 13, 2024.
