So we have been moving more and more rapidly into a quasi Russian model.”

“They (Georgia’s partners in the West) can take measures, and that is up to them to select which measures they will take for those that are depriving Georgia from their right to elect their democratic government, and they have to support what is the peaceful demand of the Georgian population, which is new elections. We are not demanding revolution. “Georgia has been always resisting to the Russian influence, will not accept to have its vote stolen and its destiny stolen. So you can expect to see more and more people on the streets. They all are peaceful. What is not peaceful is the violent repression that we have seen, that should be certainly condemned by all our partners. And that is something we are expecting to see, solidarity and support. But whatever happens, the Georgian population will not resign to the situation.”

STORYLINE:
Georgia’s president said on Saturday that protesters demanding a new election "are not demanding a revolution" but elections "in conditions that will ensure that the will of the people will not be misrepresented or stolen again."
Speaking to the AP on Saturday, Salome Zourabichvili said that Georgia was becoming a “quasi-Russian” state and that Georgian Dream controlled the country’s major institutions.
Zourabichvili called the current government illegitimate because the election was “not recognised neither by the population nor by our partners.”
