Delaware lawmaker Sarah McBride is the first openly transgender person to be elected to the House of Representatives. But last week, Republican House member Nancy Mace from South Carolina introduced a bill that would ban people on federal property from using bathrooms and locker rooms that don’t correspond to the sex they were assigned at birth. That means McBride would have to use the men’s bathroom in Congress.
