Vietnam: Real estate tycoon on death row for $12 billion fraud loses appeal | DW News

A court in Vietnam has upheld the death penalty for the woman behind the nation’s largest financial fraud case.

Real estate tycoon Truong My Lan had appealed her April conviction for embezzlement and bribery. She stole more than 12 Billion dollars in a bank fraud scheme. The court said that her life could be spared if she pays back three quarters of the stolen funds.
