Kenya’s ministry of health has approved the nationwide roll out of a vaginal ring to help women protect themselves from HIV. The Dapivirine Vaginal Ring (DPV-VR) works by releasing the anti-HIV drug dapivirine over a period of one month. Women using the ring have praised its effectiveness, saying they prefer it to daily Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) drugs.
