“Yeah. The company was saying that strikers had to go inside, cross the picket line to get their pay for paychecks. We’ve been on so many strikes. No employer has ever, ever requested that. So we said, no, we want to be there. You got to bring them out because we’re not going to have people go inside when they’re on strike. We’re worried about their safety.”

“Well, they brought the checks out for the people and they don’t want us to continuously do this all day. So they said, send them a list, but we’ll see if they don’t properly bring the paychecks out here or in a designated place off property will be going back to that front door several times today.”

“No, I think they’re trying to recruit people to come back to work. And so we weren’t about to and the strikers don’t want to have to put up with either intimidation, threats or fear. They want to be able to get their check in peace, which every other company they’ve ever been on strike with has never done what the Virgin is doing here.”

“You know, they live paycheck to paycheck. Of course, it was it was a victory. And we’re going to continue to have victories here until they settle a good contract.”

STORYLINE:
Picketing is continuing outside a hotel-casino near the Las Vegas Strip and F1 race track
The Culinary Workers Union walkout began Friday at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Members are striking for a new contract, including a raise comparable to pay at other Las Vegas resorts. The strike continues as second annual Las Vegas Grand Prix brings racing to the Strip.
The workers did receive there checks.
