"The exhibition Under Fire features four artists from Gaza. The artists of Gaza have not stopped drawing since the beginning of the war; they have continued despite the inhumane conditions they face, including forced displacement, hunger, and the lack of basic necessities. They continued to produce their art, draw, and express the conditions they live in."

8. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Mohammad Shaqdih, exhibition manager and deputy director of Darat al-Funun:
"The artists, like the rest of the people of Gaza, have had their homes and art centers destroyed, and members of their families have been martyred or injured during this war. Their situation is the same as the people there. The artists were able to express the tragedy they are enduring, the ethnic cleansing faced by the people of the Gaza Strip."

"The drawing materials they used were simple, drawn from the environment in which they lived and what was available to them. These included ballpoint pens, school notebooks, pencils, and natural dyes such as hibiscus, tea, and coffee, as well as charcoal from the wood they used for making fire and cooking."

15. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Layan Mohammad, visitor:
"Frankly, they are very talented people. Despite everything that is happening during the war, their talent remains. We still see creativity and art. And no matter what happens, this will not extinguish (the art) within them. Despite everything, they still produce very beautiful work. They are a deeply oppressed people and deserve far better than what is happening to them."

STORYLINE:
An exhibition featuring the work of four Palestinian artists from Gaza has opened in Amman, illustrating the horrors of war and the Israeli strikes on the Strip.

The art exhibition, titled Under Fire, showcases how these artists persevered in their craft despite heavy bombing and widespread destruction in their neighborhoods and cultural centers.

Their artworks were transported to Egypt through the Rafah crossing before it was closed by the Israeli army.

Mohammad Shaqdih, the exhibition’s manager and deputy director of the Darat al-Funun Foundation, said the artists continued to create art "despite the inhumane conditions they face, including forced displacement, hunger, and the lack of basic necessities."
