“In this area I can say that it was a direct hit by a rocket, and it’s not an interception or anything like that, it’s a direct hit by a rocket with a heavy weight. The damage you see in the building is part of the impact of the engine (of the rocket), the main part hit the ground and caused a fire in an electric pole. STORYLINE:
Israeli medical officials say at least five people in central Israel have been wounded by shrapnel after a missile launched from Lebanon was intercepted.
But Tel Aviv’s police chief says it was a direct hit by the rocket and not an interception.
The missile triggered air raid sirens in the Tel Aviv area.
Authorities said shrapnel from the rocket hit several people on the ground.
Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service said it treated five people for injuries.
Victims were taken to Beilinson Hospital, where one woman was reported in serious condition.
