STORYLINE:
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has stressed European allies would continue to support Ukraine as Tuesday marked 1,000 days since Russia’s full scale invasion of the country.

"We want no more of those hundreds of thousands of deaths that we remembered today with our minute of silence," he said during a news conference in Poland.

"We will continue to support Ukraine from a political point of view, from a financial point of view, from the point of view of sending military material just as we have done in these 1,000 days."

Tajani was attending a meeting of foreign ministers of Poland, Germany, France and Italy.

The foreign ministers were set to discuss stepping up Europe’s military support for Ukraine as well as ties with the United States under Donald Trump.

"We are friends with the United States, regardless of who wins the elections," he said as he stressed European nations "must act together" with the U.S. to help bring about an end to the war in Ukraine.

"We have worked with Biden, we want to work well with the new administration in the common interest," he added.
