STORYLINE:
An Israeli strike on Sunday hit a building in central Beirut’s Ras el-Nabaa neighbourhood, the first in the area in almost a month.
The strike in the busy neighborhood came without warning, hitting what local media reported as a center for the Baath Party.
Plumes of smoke could be seen spreading into Beirut’s Sodeco district, and gunfire could be heard from the area of the strike.
Israel has not struck central Beirut since last month, as it continues its ground invasion in the south deeper into the country and strikes Beirut’s southern suburbs with more intensity.
No casualties were immediately reported.
