STORYLINE:
Relatives of hostages held in Gaza appealed on Saturday to President-elect Donald Trump to "act now" to save the hostages.
Sahar Mor, relative of Avraham Munder whose body is still held in Gaza, said that the hostages "will not survive the winter" adding that they "won’t even survive till your inauguration in January."
“President Trump, please, we need you to step in and take charge of the situation today," Mor said.
The war between Israel and Hamas began after Palestinian militants stormed into Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people — mostly civilians — and abducting 250 others.
Israel says about 100 are still being held, though not all are believed to be alive.
The Health Ministry in Gaza has said at least 43,799 Palestinians have been killed in the war. The ministry does not distinguish between civilians and combatants but has said more than half of those killed have been women and children.
