STORYLINE:
Pro-Palestinian supporters gathered near the stadium where France competed against Israel in a Nations League soccer match held under high security.
Several hundred people protested in Saint-Denis against the match and denounced France for hosting the game and supporting Israel.
"To support the holding of this match and to attend it and beyond that, it has renewed its support to Israel and to Israel’s policy of genocide," said Lisa Grailhe a member of ‘Comité Palestine Paris 1 Sorbonne,’ a university group for Palestine.
Crowds chanted "Free free Palestine" as police and security were ramped up near the venue, a week after violence erupted in Amsterdam in connection with an Israeli club team’s visit.
Lawyer Salah Hamouri was against the match taking place so as to "not give legitimacy to the occupation by holding this match."
French President Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister Michel Barnier along with two former French Presidents, Francois Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy all attended the match.
