Former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz’s nomination for attorney general is being met with a variety of reactions from Republicans, including cautious reservation, praise and pointed criticism.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, (R) Florida, said that the Department of Justice never charges Matt Gaetz, and so questioned why it was being brought up.
“The fact that these people are bringing this up, why aren’t they interested in uncovering what happened with Jeffrey Epstein or at, frankly, the Diddy list? I think it’s pretty gross. Honestly, I think if Congress really wants to start with cleaning out the House, they need to start looking into how people are becoming multimillionaires off of a salary that’s $175,000 a year,” Luna said.
Meanwhile, Rep. Jamie Raskin, (D) Maryland, said that Gaetz is the right pick for Donald Trump.
“I mean, he was certainly the right pick for Donald Trump. And I think Matt Gaetz has been a ferocious champion for Donald Trump’s views and he would pursue that as attorney general.
