STORYLINE:
A hostage who was rescued from Hamas captivity said on Thursday that a deal is needed now to release the other hostages, after meeting with Pope Francis in Rome.
"As hard as it is, as expensive as it is, we need to make a deal to bring everyone back. That should be the most important thing in our lives today, " said Louis Har, who was rescued by the Israeli military after 129 days in Hamas captivity.

A delegation of former hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and their relatives met with Pope Francis and expressed hope that a new U.S. administration could help bring the remaining 101 hostages home.
The delegation included Elena Troufanov, who was released last November, but whose son Sasha remains in Gaza and appeared in a video released Wednesday by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group.
"Winter is approaching and winter is hard. And I am very afraid that my only son, the only thing I have left in this life – I am afraid of losing him," Elena said.
Elena Troufanov, together with her mother and Sasha’s girlfriend were taken captive, and were released during a November 2023 cease-fire. Sasha’s father was killed in the Oct. 7 attack.
On Wednesday, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group released a new video showing Sasha Troufanov, held in Gaza for over a year.
The video showed Troufanov, likely speaking under duress, describing the harsh conditions inside Gaza, warning against military operations to free him and calling on Israelis to protest for his release.
It was the first such video to be released in several weeks. It was not clear when it was filmed, but Troufanov appeared to refer to Israel’s war against Hezbollah in Lebanon and its recent exchange of fire with Iran, which occurred in October.
Islamic Jihad released two previous videos of Troufanov earlier this year. He turned 29 on Monday, marking his second birthday in captivity.
Islamic Jihad took part in Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack into Israel, in which militants killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took another 250 people hostage. Some 100 hostages are still inside Gaza, about a third of whom are believed to be dead.
