STORYLINE:
Scores of journalists crowded onto the grounds of the White House Wednesday in hopes of catching a glimpse of Donald Trump as he arrived to meet with President Joe Biden.
The Secret Service guard post ran out of temporary passes that are given to visiting reporters who don’t usually cover the presidency.
Foreign leaders often arrive at the West Wing driveway when they come to meet with the president.
But Trump’s motorcade entered through a different White House gate so the press gathered missed a sighting.
Trump is in Washington for the first time since winning the 2024 election, visiting the White House for an Oval Office meeting with President Joe Biden and committing to a smooth transition of power as the president-elect moves quickly to build out his new administration.
