Leader of Georgian breakaway region will resign if protesters go away | DW News

The leader of Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia says he will resign if protesters leave the parliament. The demonstrators stormed the building on Friday.

Abkhazia lies in the northwestern corner of Georgia and is backed by Russia. Unrest broke out over a proposal to allow Russians to buy property there. The measure has been scrapped under pressure from the protesters
