The UN annual climate conference has started in Azerbaijan amid warnings that 2024 will be the hottest year on record. The focus of this year’s meeting is on climate financing. Developing countries are seeking assurances they’ll get more funding to deal with the impact of climate catastrophes – that are becoming more severe and more frequent. But the election of climate skeptic Donald Trump could put the brakes on proposals to deal with global warming.
