"I really felt like it’s important for the middle to show up too because the election usually goes wherever the independents go. And I’m an independent, but I’m more worried about democracy than anything. I’m also a woman, so I care about women’s rights. As a professor, as a therapist I talk to a lot of people, and I’m really concerned that if we lose our democracy, we lose the country, we don’t have anything. As long as we have that we’re going to be able to fix whatever problems we have."

STORYLINE:
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris held a campaign rally the night before the elections in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
"I am here to witness history because we already know who’s going to be the next president," said Danielle Miller, a resident of Pennsylvania and first time rally attendee.
Pittsburgh was Harris’ third stop of the day before finishing the evening in Philadelphia on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
"Pittsburgh. Are we ready to do this? Are we ready to vote? Are we ready to win?" asked Harris after taking the stage.
Both presidential candidates spent Monday at multiple events across the battleground state, whose 19 electoral votes offer the largest prize among the states expected to determine the Electoral College outcome.
About 77 million Americans already have voted early. Either result on Election Day will yield a historic outcome.
