STORYLINE:
Juan Vicente Perez and his wife had to leave in panic as the flood waters of the nearby canal rose suddenly last Tuesday in Valencia.
His family home, where he and his parents have lived for over 50 years hangs over the canal that saw deadly flash floods.
Juan breaks down in tears as he reflects on what has happened and what his future is.
“Everything I have, I don’t have anything else, now I am left in the street, I have nothing, I have no other property, I have nothing.”, he said.
Juan is retired from an olive processing factory and his only income is the state pension.
He and his wife are staying with his sister-in-law, but that house doesn’t have running water or electricity like most of Chivas, a small town 30 kilometers outside Valencia.
