STORYLINE:
A Halloween-inspired "Goosebumps Festival" held at a historic former railway factory in Bangkok has drawn visitors to its horror-themed event inspired by Thai cultural beliefs.

The festival, organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and featuring more than 80 local vendors, has been held as a tourism initiative during the low season, according to an official press release.

Makkasan Factory, where the event is taking place, was once the largest factory in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

The factory first opened over 114 years ago.

The Goosebumps Market comprises of ghostly attractions and food stalls across the site.

One of the main draws is an old and dark factory workshop where red lights, smoke machines and horror sound installations have been added to set an eerie tone.

"This is the first time that I participated in such a big Halloween event. I’m very excited because everything looks so real, the backgrounds, lighting, sounds are very haunting," said visitor Piyada Ruengkasem.

Sorana Sermsitthiporn enjoyed taking photographs of his partner in front of the heavy metal machinery in the workshop, in what he saw as a uniquely Thai environment.

The Goosebumps Festival runs until October 31st.
