STORYLINE:
At a recent naturalization ceremony, nine immigrants from countries spanning from Lebanon to Mexico took their oath to become American citizens.
The event on a scenic hillside overlooking Los Angeles made them eligible to register to vote in time to cast ballots in the upcoming presidential election.
It’s one of the things several of them said they’re looking forward to doing to participate more fully in American life.
Many said they hoped to travel with an American passport, participate in political life, and above all, feel they’re full-fledged members of the country they love and for years have called home.
