STORYLINE:
French President Emmanuel Macron met Lebanese interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Élysée Palace on Wednesday.
The meeting took place ahead of the International Conference in Support of the People and Sovereignty of Lebanon, to be held in Paris on Thursday.
In the face of a serious and deep political and humanitarian crisis, the conference will emphasize the urgent need for a cessation of hostilities and a diplomatic solution based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, allowing the safe return of displaced people to their homes in both Israel and Lebanon.
