(1 Feb 1976) RR7605A: ANGOLAN WAR REPORT
In Angola’s civil war, the military initiative seems to be
passing from UNITA, the pro-western group led by
Dr. Jonas Savimbi, to the Soviet and Cuban backed
MPLA of Agostinho Neto. UNITA’s allies, the Zaire-
supported FINLA are now almost squeezed out of the
conflict. This report shows the headquarters of both
major groups, troops training and evidence of the
Cuban soldiers and Soviet arms received by the
MPLA.
