An international aid conference for Lebanon has raised a billion dollars in pledges for humanitarian assistance and security. More than 70 countries attended the event hosted by the French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. The aim was also to secure diplomatic support for a cease-fire in the war between Israel and Hezbollah. The Lebanese health ministry says the conflict has killed more than 2,500 people and displaced more than a million.
President Macron said he regrets the toll on civilians.
