11. SOUNDBITE (English) Clément Delépine, show director, Art Basel Paris:
"Within the Grand Palais, the fair is happening with 195 exhibitors, three sectors, two theme sectors, a new sector. It’s very exciting. I mean, we thrive for excellency, so it’s the best of the best of galleries, primary, secondary market, contemporary art, modern art, young emerging artists, very specifically themed curatorial proposals. Any art enthusiast would, in my opinion, marvel at the selection, we’re very proud of it."

13. SOUNDBITE (English) Clément Delépine, show director, Art Basel Paris:
"Well, year on year, the market declined by 4%. And what we observed is that artworks at the top end of the market, prices are declining as well. However, the volume of transactions is increasing. And within that, the French market remains at the fourth position globally, and more than 50% of art transactions taking place in the European Union happened in France. You know, the art market, like any asset market, is not immune to fluctuations."

17. SOUNDBITE (English) Jean-Baptiste Costa de Beauregard, deputy CEO, Beaux Arts & Cie:
"I mean, it’s quite emotional for us Parisians to be back at our Grand Palais. It was taken away from us for like five years. So, there’s this emotion plus the Art Basel success of bringing all those huge dealers to Paris, all those collectors. And it goes with a buzzing art scene that we had in Paris already. So, it’s really combining the reopening of the Grand Palais, the massive exhibitions we have in the museums and Art Basel bringing all this amazing activity together, that makes it quite special this week, this year."

"It was in the collection of Renault, the car brand. And we managed to get our hands on it a few months ago and we secured it for the fair. And it’s been a true highlight because it’s never been seen by the market before. And it’s in incredible condition. It’s one of the most important works. So, it’s a truly fabulous thing, in the scale, in historical importance, the conceptual importance of the work. So, it’s been a real privilege to have it here."
