Haiti: Can Kenyan forces stabilize a country plagued by gang violence and foreign intervention?

Much of Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince is controlled by criminal gangs. Killings, rapes and kidnappings have risen sharply since Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated in 2021. The United Nations says gangs have killed more than 3,600 people this year alone. A UN security force led by Kenya is supposed to include 2,500 police officers. Only 400 have arrived so far, but they have made some gains.
