How scientist and countries work to recover lost biodiversity | DW News

A United Nations biodiversity summit has opened in Colombia. Almost 200 countries are discussing measures to safeguard and restore animal and plant species. Wildlife populations have plunged by more than 70% in just 50 years. Some one million species are at risk of extinction. In Europe, engineers plan to restore parts of the River Rhine between Switzerland and Germany. The initiative is aimed at preventing flooding and boosting biodiversity.
