STORYLINE:
Former British Army chief General Sir Mike Jackson died on Tuesday at the age of 80, the British Army said on social platform X.
Jackson was the British Army chief during the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq after having served in Northern Ireland and Bosnia.
The Army post said Jackson died surrounded by his family.
"General ‘Jacko’ served with distinction for over 40 years, finishing his career as Chief of the General Staff. He will be greatly missed, and long remembered. Utrinque Paratus," it added.
