The Nobel Prize for Economics was announced today for a trio of economists and their analysis of prosperity and inequality. So it’s fitting that we devote today’s On This Day segment to another trio of Nobel winners the economist Eugene Fama, Robert Shiller and Lars Peter Hansen, who shared the 2013 prize for their research on how financial markets work. It’s hard to understate the impact their research has had on Wall Street long before they ever won the prize.
