Mozambique elects new president in tense vote | DW News

The ruling party in Mozambique is set for another term – extending its nearly half a century in power. Frelimo has led the east African nation since it gained independence from Portugal in 1975. But generational change is in prospect. The front-runner Daniel Chapo is expected to be the first president born since the end of colonial rule.
