“I was 18 years old at the time (when the full scale invasion began) and Ihor was 17. When I was already participating in combat operations, Ihor always asked me how it was over there, and he wanted to defend his homeland and his family and friends.”

STORYLINE:
Family, relatives, friends and servicemen from the Azov brigade attend the funeral ceremony of Ihor Kusochek, 20, also known by call sign “Chaka” in Bobrovytsya on Friday October 4.

Ihor Kusochek joined the army as a volunteer when he turned 18, he died defending Toretsk as a part of a mortar unit.

During the funeral ceremony dozens of people came to say goodbye to Ihor, his mother Kateryna Kusochek was crying and hugging the body.

His best friend since childhood, Pavlo (last name not given because of security reasons), serviceman of 35th brigade, said that Ihor "wanted to defend his homeland and his family and friends."
