STORYLINE:
A huge cloud of white smoke rose up over the Beirut skyline on Tuesday as the Israeli military confirmed it had carried out a new airstrike on Lebanon’s capital.
The Israel Defense Forces said it had performed what it called a "precise strike" on Beirut as it continues its attacks seeking to target Hezbollah.
It comes as the Israeli army announced expanded ground maneuvers to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanese villages close to the border.
