2. SOUNDBITE (English) Sharone Lifschitz, whose father is still being held as a hostage by Hamas:
"I think Hezbollah has grown strong over several years, that’s another timeline. But it takes away from the hostages, they are there and if there is a ground incursion, then they all, they’ve been telling us nothing will happen for two weeks or three weeks or five weeks, so we’re in a losing battle. We’ve been on this mudslide for year and it’s getting worse and worse, and anything that takes away the possibility of all the parties sitting together and reaching the deal does not help the hostages.”
3. Framed photograph of hostages
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Stephen Brisley, whose brother-in-law is being held hostage by Hamas:
"It takes focus away from what is the most important thing, which is the release of the hostages. The Israeli government has consistently said from the eight of October onwards that the hostages are the number one priority. That’s not the impression I get at the moment nor over the past three, four, five, six months. Because if the hostages were the first priority, then a deal would have been done by now."
5. Wide of panel
6. Close of necklace reading (English) "Bring them home"
STORYLINE:
Relatives of Israelis being held hostage in Gaza shared their concerns about the escalation of the conflict with Hezbollah delaying the changes of their release during a news conference in London on Monday.
“Anything that takes way the possibility of all the parties sitting together and reaching a deal does not help the hostages,” said Sharone Lifschitz, whose father is being held as a hostage. Her mother, Yocheved, was freed in November but her father, Oded, is still being held.
Relatives of hostages with connections to the U.K. held a private meeting Monday with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy in hope of increasing pressure for their release.
Stephen Brisley’s sister Lianne Sharab and two nieces were killed by Hamas on Oct,7, and his brother-in-law Eli Sharabi is being held hostage.
He said the Israeli government has insisted the hostages are its top priority but said that is not the "impression" he gets from their actions.
Israel’s prime minister issued a warning to Iran Monday, just days after an airstrike south of Beirut killed the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, which is backed by Tehran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said “there is nowhere in the Middle East Israel cannot reach.”
Hezbollah’s acting leader promised the group will fight on following the death Friday of its long-time chief Hassan Nasrallah.
Israel has also assassinated several of the group’s top commanders in recent days.
