"We hostage families have been watching in fear as the events have unfolded over the past days. We watch as under the cover of escalation war in the north and the success of military operations, Netanyahu continues to hide the fact that at this moment, there is a hostage release deal on the table ready to be signed, one that Hamas agreed to, which Netanyahu is delaying in and criminally sabotaging."

STORYLINE:
Relatives of hostages still held in Gaza accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday of derailing a possible deal with Hamas through Israel’s escalation against Hezbollah.

"We watch as under the cover of escalation war in the north and the success of military operations, Netanyahu continues to hide the fact that at this moment, there is a hostage release deal on the table ready to be signed, one that Hamas agreed to, which Netanyahu is delaying in and criminally sabotaging," said Naama Weinberg, whose cousin Itay Svirsky was taken hostage and killed in Gaza.

"Netanyahu did not once utter the words ‘hostage deal’ in his 40-minute speech. That is because he does not want a hostage deal," she added, referring to his defiant address to the U.N. General Assembly on Friday.

Roughly 100 hostages remain captive in Gaza, where they have been held since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack.
