"We don’t have too many navigation aids. We have the navigation aids for safety, and then we try to do old ways of navigation, using the sails or the paper charts or some astronomy, sextants, we try to do all of them."

"Because you have the difficult part then you value the good part more. So when you don’t sleep, when it’s cold, when it’s raining, when you’re pulling all these big ropes and your hands are… that is tough, that is tough. But then when you sleep or you go out and you really say I’ve been working hard 10 hours, 12 hours, 14 hours – because we work two days in a row and then we rest two days in a row – so really when you go and have a pint it tastes way better than when you’re having a normal chill day, so."

"Sailing the Thames was so special for me. Since I knew we will come here I was looking forward to that day. And that was very special for us. And coming through the Tower Bridge it was like a huge achievement for us, for me, for the galleon, because they weren’t here, I think this was the first galleon that crossed the Tower Bridge and moor here in the heart of London. And yeah for us it’s an honour to be here."

LEADIN:
A full-scale replica of a Spanish galleon is dropping anchor in central London.
The Galeon Andalucia is pausing in the capital on the banks of the river Thames as part of the 70,000 nautical miles it has already sailed since launching in 2009.
STORYLINE:
But more than 430 years on it is delighting tourists and locals.
