“Upstairs is one of my favorite parts of the guest experience. So they’ll be able to go into The Kid’s closet, which features three really iconic looks from the Purple Rain tour that Prince actually wore. And then what guests will be able to do themselves is actually play around with a selection of really iconic eighties outfits and looks and styles that they can kind of engage their inner rock star themselves.”

So everything from the layout of the space, the exposed brick, the purple bed, the candles, the art, even a cassette player on the dresser, which is loaded with some of The Kid’s inspired or inspirational cassette tapes. It really is meant to immerse you in The Kid’s world.”

“We’ll be offering 25 one-night stays for up to four guests each that will be taking place from late October through mid-December. Guests who are interested in staying here will be able to request a book starting October 2nd at 6 a.m. Pacific, and bookings will be open through October 6th."

STORYLINE:
Airbnb is offering Prince fans an experience to step inside one of the purple genius’ most iconic worlds.
Nestled into an unsuspecting south Minneapolis neighborhood is the house featured in the 1984 Purple Rain film.
40 years after the premier, the house has been renovated down to the studs and filled with memorabilia from the film, Prince’s musical career and homages to 80s style.
From lavender-scented candles to “Lake Minnetonka” water, guests are encouraged to imagine themselves in the Kid’s home, forty years into his career.
Hosts Wendy and Lisa from the Revolution recorded memories of filming and performing with Prince are accessible throughout the house via QR codes.
The one-night stays include a dinner curated by Prince’s former personal chefs, a “When Doves Cry” inspired spa treatment, instruments to jam along with the Kid and a few surprises to be revealed during the experience.
Available stays will run from late October through mid December.
