"All our mattresses are wet with water, and all the people are damaged. There are no tents or nylon. We call on human rights and international humanitarian institutions to stand with us. We hope that the war will stop and that we will return to our homes, better than the tents. This is a tent that I received. It was worn out and the water, cold, and rain reached my children."

STORYLINE:
As the first rain of the fall season begins in the Gaza Strip, displaced Palestinians living in the sprawling Muwasi tent camp along the coast struggle to cope with flooding.

Water has gone up to their ankles, as children walk barefoot and their parents try to take whatever items they can from their tents. A mother tries to remove water from her family’s tent with a mop.

Some of the children in the sprawling camp are entertained, but their parents are exacerbated as the humanitarian crisis after almost a year of war in the tiny enclave continues to worsen.

“We woke up in the morning to find the tents with rainwater pouring on us, and water from the streets entering on us,” said Rana Goza’t a displaced woman from Gaza City.

“This is the beginning of winter. What will happen in the coming days?”
