STORYLINE:
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported late Monday an Israeli strike on a southern Beirut suburb with three missiles.
Al-Manar TV of Lebanon’s Hezbollah group said six people were wounded in the strike on the Beir al-Abed neighborhood adding that they were rushed to hospital.
A Hezbollah official confirmed the airstrike without giving further details.
The area was cordoned and journalists were not allowed to get close to the building that was hit.
The strike happened on the same day that Israeli strikes killed more than 270 Lebanese in the deadliest barrage since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war.
The Israeli military warned residents in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of a widening air campaign against Hezbollah.
Thousands of Lebanese fled the south, and the main highway out of the southern port city of Sidon was jammed with cars heading toward Beirut in the biggest exodus since 2006.
More than 1,000 people were wounded in the strikes — a staggering one-day toll for a country still reeling from a deadly attack on communication devices last week.
The strike on a southern Beirut suburb Monday also happened a few days after an Israeli airstrike in the same area killed at least 45 people, a veteran Hezbollah commander, several other fighters, and women and children.
