STORYLINE:
Malaysia’s King Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar is visiting China on a four-day trip with the aim of deepening relations between the two nations.
China’s President Xi Jinping hosted a state welcoming ceremony for King Sultan Ibrahim on Friday and also met for official talks.
The visit is the Malaysian monarch’s first trip to a country that is not a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations since he ascended the throne in January.
King Sultan Ibrahim is accompanied by ministers of transport, housing and local government and foreign affairs, and senior officials from the National Palace and relevant ministries and agencies, local media report.
