‘As soon as I started really kind of narrowing down, I sort of reflected more and more into my story. I started realizing, ‘Oh my God, there’s—every aspect of my life, you know, kind of married, you know, that that thought. And, you know, and then my team immediately was like, ‘Dude, this is a memoir.’ And I’m like, ‘yes and no.’ And I felt—I was feeling a little funny about that word because I respect so much of all the individuals that write these incredibly lucrative, you know, lives and careers and I’ve been in this game for almost 30 years, but I still feel like I just got here, you know? And so, yeah, it was pretty humbling and really exciting. And it turned out to be almost like a tribute to my parents, as you can see."

I just love that this is the time for us to come together based on our heritage and our tribute—to pay tribute to the ones that brought us here because now we get to vote and that to me is really what its about."

"Think you think about it like if my daughter was born ten years ago, like, what would she be watching. Versus what she’s going to watch when she becomes a young, young teenager. What that reality is going to look like for her as she’s going to be like, ‘what was the big deal this looks like, works fine, everybody’s fine. You know, what is this thing you call representation?’ She going to wake up in a reality where she’s not going to–perhaps not going to understand what it was. But I certainly hope she can appreciate the fight. You know, that the most of us had to do to actually open the gate for a lot of these things to be possible."
