"We did receive a pretty full initial briefing by the Secret Service on the level of security that was provided this Sunday. Their initial assessment of what happened, which we can go into some of that it is our expectation that the speaker and the minority leader are going to ask our task force to assume assume jurisdiction over this incident. But as the chairman indicated, we have to go through the process, actually has to be a vote of the House to do that. And if the House of Representatives does deem that to be our jurisdiction, then we are prepared to do so on."

"What we were trying to do is compare what happened this Sunday to what happened on July 13th in Butler see if there’s any similarity that there’s two completely different venues as you know. One is a public event, a venue on a fairgrounds. The other takes place at a private golf course. And then the question is, so where were the perimeters set up? How was the coverage ahead of time where we’re looking for some things. I do think this, because of July 13th, the Secret Service is now that their awareness is heightened, it has to be right. I think they’re looking a lot closer to what they’ve done before and what they should do in the future. So I think there was adjustments and we find out today that they’ve made made adjustments and more than anything else, just more of an awareness."

"So what we learned today are a couple of key things. One is it does not appear at this point is that there were any obvious failures of security and protocol. So unlike the Butler situation, which very obviously had some failures, it does appear as though the security processes and protocols were followed and the system worked as designed. That’s the first preliminary impression. The second being and this is an important takeaway for us, is that it appeared to be the same security package that was provided to former President Trump at that site doing that activity as he actually received when he was the president. And it was commensurate with presidential level security and actually the same package of security that he actually would have had and did have when he was the sitting president as well."

Member of the United States Congress taskforce investigating a second apparent assassination attempt on former President Trump met members of the United States Secret Service in Washington on Wednesday.
"We did receive a pretty full initial briefing by the Secret Service on the level of security that was provided this Sunday," said Representative Jason Crow of Colorado.
"So what we learned today are a couple of key things. One is it does not appear at this point is that there were any obvious failures of security and protocol," added Crow.
