“All in all, I’m glad they gave them a blow that they’re shocked, but I don’t know what will come out of it because they also have all kinds of means to attack us. So there’s also some, I don’t know whether to say fear and lack of knowledge or for what to prepare. We don’t see that this business is over and this is very sad that they don’t let live in this country.”

“Until this incident, I was optimistic that we would return home before the holidays, because there was already talk and all kinds of speculation, but after this attack, I say that it is quite successful. I kind of think that this whole business will continue.”

STORYLINE:
Israelis in the country’s north reacted on Wednesday to the simmering tensions between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah following the the explosion of several pagers across Lebanon and in parts of Syria.
Pagers used by the militant group Hezbollah exploded near-simultaneously on Tuesday in Lebanon and Syria, killing at least nine people, including an 8-year-old girl, and wounding nearly 3,000.
Hezbollah and the Lebanese government blamed Israel for what appeared to be a sophisticated remote attack.
“All in all, I’m glad they gave them a blow that they’re shocked,” said Yael Shoham Elam, an Ayelet Hashahar resident.
"But I don’t know what will come out of it because they also have all kinds of means to attack us,” she added.
Yaacov Ben Naftali, who has been displaced from Margaliot near the border with Lebanon, said “until this incident, I was optimistic that we would return home before the holidays…I kind of think that this whole business will continue.”
“We’ve been in stress for a long time, so anything new just adds to the overall stress,” said Shay Sade, an Ayelet Hashahar resident.
Hezbollah said in a statement on Wednesday that it would continue its normal strikes against Israel “as in all the past days” as part of what it describes as support for Palestinians in Gaza.
Hezbollah began firing rockets over the border into Israel on October 8, the day after a deadly Hamas-led attack in southern Israel triggered a massive Israeli counteroffensive and the ongoing war in Gaza. Since then, Hezbollah and Israeli forces have exchanged strikes almost daily, killing hundreds in Lebanon and dozens in Israel and displacing tens of thousands on each side of the border.
